The DeFi Education Fund, alongside the Security Alliance (SEAL), and Asymmetric Research, launched the Open Protocol Security Coalition (OPSeC) on Tuesday, an effort to strengthen crypto cybersecurity practices and bring technical security expertise to lawmakers in Washington.
• The Coalition: OPSeC debuts with founding members DeFi Education Fund, SEAL, and Asymmetric Research. The group says it will hold educational events geared toward lawmakers and create a free central hub of security resources and best practices, available to any and all teams.
• The Pledge: Organizations joining OPSeC sign a pledge to commit cybersecurity resources to the coalition, including tapping team members to share best practices. Investors who join pledge to ensure their portfolio companies maintain a baseline of "non-negotiable" security practices.
• The Latest DEF Spinout: OPSeC is the most recent advocacy and education organization to emerge from members of the DeFi Education Fund. Earlier this month, DEF policy lead Gavin Zavatone launched the Defend Developers PAC (DDPAC), the first political action committee focused exclusively on backing lawmakers who support legal protections for blockchain developers.
