One of Australia’s largest pension funds, Hostplus, is considering offering cryptocurrencies as an investment option to its members, an asset class that’s so far been largely shunned by its industry rivals.
Hostplus, which manages more than A$150 billion ($105 billion), is looking at offering Bitcoin and other digital assets through its Choiceplus investment option, which allows people to self-manage their retirement savings portfolio, Chief Investment Officer Sam Sicilia said in an interview. Currently about 1% of the fund’s total assets are invested in Choiceplus.
